The fish hook is a symbol of skill and ability to provide for one's self and family. Since ancient times Tahitians have honed their fishing skills and made an art of not only fishing methods but also making fish hooks and lures. Originally, the hooks were made of whale bone or dog bone.
Today, most hooks are made from cow bone. Our hooks are also made of cow bone. Handmade and carved, our fish hooks are a labor of love for our artisans. Adding in a beautiful black pearl also lends to the attention to detail and the style inspired by lures used by Tahitian fishermen of old.
Hook information: 18" necklace, approx. 1.5" high, 7/8" wide
Each hook is unique.
